1. Greeting

 We'll learn about the most common way to greet someone.

 

A.Greeting someone you never met:

 1. "Hi, my name is ..... It's nice to meet you."

>> "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm ...."

 

2. "What do you do for a living?"

>> "I work at .….."

 

3. "What is your name?" >>  my name…..

 4.  Repeat their name >>

"What was that again?"

"Excuse me?"

"Pardon me?"

 

B.Greeting Someone you Know

1."Hey ..., how have you been?"

2."Hi…., how are you?"

3. "Hi …., what have you been up to?"

4."…., it's been a long time, how are you man?"

5. "Hey…, it's good to see you. What are you doing here?"

6. "What a surprise. I haven't seen you in a long time. How have you been?"

7. "Do you come to this Place often?"

8.  "What movie did you come to see?"

 

My response:

1."Not too bad."

2. "Same ole same ole." Or, "The same as usual."

3."I'm pretty busy at work these days, but otherwise, everything is great."

4. "I'm doing very well."

5. "I've been here a couple of times, but I don't come on a regular basis."

6."I come pretty often. This is my favorite restaurant."

7. "I can't believe we haven't seen each other before. I come here at least twice a week."

8. "I came here to see Matrix Revolution. How about you?"

9."I finally have some free time. I just finished taking a big examination, and I'm so relieved that I'm done with it."

 

Practice saying

A.Greeting someone you never met:

A: "Hi, my name is Steve. It's nice to meet you."

B: "I'm Jack. It's a pleasure to meet you, Steve."

A: "What do you do for a living Jack?"

B: "I work at the bank."

C: "What is your name?"

D: "Jackson."

C:"What was that again?"/"Excuse me?"/"Pardon me?"

 

B.Greeting Someone you Know

                   

A: "Hey John, how have you been?"

B: "What a surprise. I haven't seen you in a long time. How have you been?"

A: "I'm doing very well. How about you?"

B: "I finally have some free time. I just finished taking a big examination, and I'm so relieved that I'm done with it."

 

A: "Hi Nancy, what have you been up to?"
